Top tips for selling your car

Selling a car shouldn't need to be hassle so that is why we have prepared this information for you to make sure your experience selling your car is an easy and most importantly a rewarding one.

Cleanliness is key
Make sure the car is spotless inside and out when potential buyers come to see it. The last thing a prospective buyer wants to see is a car that has been used as a bin.

Service History
A full service history can be as important to some buyers as the make or the model and it can also add value to the car so don't forget to get your car checked regularly with a authorised dealership and make sure to keep the service history at hand when prospective buyers come knocking.

Extras
Some buyers love all the extra little features one car has over another so if your car has extras like air conditioning, a sunroof, leather seats, mp3 player then be sure to add it because they are all selling points.

Honesty
Honesty is always the best policy so make sure you are honest about all aspects of the vehicle like mileage, service history, number of owners etc. I know of one particular company that advertises used cars online and also permits advertisements for vehicles to be clocked. This is unethical and it is a conflict of interest for the large majority of their customers. Selling online
Most websites will tell you theirs is the best website to sell your car on but the truth is that there are many used car websites out there and your job is to get your car as much exposure to potential buyers as possible so obviously the more websites your car is advertised on the more people will see it.

Make sure you include as much information about the car as possible so as potential buyers know exatly what they are looking at. This can save you valuable time spent on the phone explaining things that were not advertised about the car (some things NCT until date, Tax until date, colour, number of owners can be very important to certain buyers so including these is a must).

Ensure you have good quality images of the exterior and interior to sell your vehicle as a picture can make the difference between a sale or none. Cars in online listings typically get much higher click throughs and usually disapear off the list much quicker than those that don't.

Set yourself a budget as some websites charge to advertise and beware of any hidden costs. Luckily we are free and hopefully this trend will continue so people don't have to pay for the privelage to sell their car online.

There are many ways to do this but the first thing to remember is that price can be important but it is not always the most important for everybody so price your car as it should be. Another excellent way to get a cost would be to contact your dealer that services your car (remember the authorised dealer that you have the complete service history from? ;)) and they will be more than happy to give you a guide price. If your car isn't selling online it may not be necessarily the price but it doesn't hurt to log on and tweak it if you are not getting the interest you think it deserves.
